For the return journey, you can hike back above the Bineri along the Chilcheri canal through the larch forest to the starting point.

Note: Hiking trail along the Bineri – with possible but not guaranteed water flow. So, with some luck, you may see the refreshing water flowing, but it is not guaranteed.

POI details

From the village, follow the road to the lake. A few metres after the sports centre, turn right following the sign towards Gasenried. This path takes you through a residential area for the first part and then leads into the shady larch forest. Here you walk along the Zauberwasser, cross the Rittigraben and continue across meadowland. In the hamlet of Gasenried you reach the baroque chapel and are now very close to the goal of this hike. A few metres further on you will reach the Schalbetten rest area at 1683 m above sea level.

From Visp you take the train to St. Niklaus. There you change to the bus, which gets you to Grächen every half hour. On weekends a direct bus operates from Visp to Grächen.
